Date: 6 Mar 2001
The European Commission is to investigate Intel to discover whether the company is guilty of abusing its dominance in the manufacture of computer chips to engage in abusive marketing practices.
The investigation, which has echoes of the sharp focus on Microsoft over the last couple of years, is at an early stage, and it is not currently stated that there is definite evidence that such abuse has taken place.
