Hundreds of businesses, including Microsoft, Diageo, General Motors, Unilever and Levi Strauss, are calling on federal policymakers to properly address climate change.

The companies signed the Climate Declaration, an initiative promoted by Ceres which says that climate change is one of the "greatest economic opportunities of the 21st century."

The move comes just before the release of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change scientific assessment which has been heavily trailed as firming up even further conviction that recent global warming is caused by human activity.
